Working Mindfully

How often have you found yourself caught in the midst of a daydream whilst working? It happens to all of us, particularly when performing repetitive tasks or work that we feel doesn’t require our utmost attention.
If we judge our work as being boring or mindless, we immediately create a barrier that restricts us from finding enjoyment in the task we are performing. If that work includes tasks that are considered dangerous, such as those in the construction, transport or marine industries, we introduce a more critical aspect to our lack of attention. We don’t need to search too far to find the results of mindless activity and lack of attention, as I’m sure we have all experienced arriving at a destination whilst not being able to recall certain parts of the journey.
This is not just dangerous, it can be catastrophic when it results in the deaths of others, family members or friends, or ourselves.
Working mindfully involves being present at all times. When we work in the present moment, we are acutely aware of the work we are performing. We perform at our highest level and the outcomes or results will reflect this. We will never have more tools available to us to create success than in these moments.
Remain present, not reflecting on past or future, and experience the rewards of living and working the way we are meant to.
