Post pandemic has delivered a huge variety of change to the way many of us may previously have viewed our lives, and the direction in which that was headed.
The US coined the phrase “The Great Resignation”, which reflected upon the choices employees were now making having survived the transition from a daily commute to work, to facing the new challenge of working from home.
New opportunities arose, those who didn’t have the luxury of continuing in their chosen fields of employment were forced to adapt to obtaining or creating new means of employment, and home based small businesses emerged and flourished.
We were often forced from our comfort zones and needed to awaken to the new challenges rapidly. Certainly in many countries, Government softened the blow through creative welfare, but that was only ever going to be a short term fix.
Our consciousness was often pricked through being forced to slow down from our previously fast paced existence, through living in a void of awareness of our natural surroundings because we are conjoined to a phone or laptop, and through reconnecting with family and friends, when permitted!!
This jolt has allowed us to reconsider our work options, but it is essential that we give thorough consideration to our reasons for seeking change. The grass is greener on the other side is not always the case.
The easiest way to slice through this mire of thought is to ask yourself this question, “would I do this work if I wasn’t being paid?”…from there your decision making becomes a lot clearer.
