Mindless actions occur throughout our life due to the fact that we are not trained to remain alert to our thought process.
Thoughts enter and leave our mind at the speed of light, often entangled and confused and usually leaving us in a distressed or discomforted state.
Through the practice of mindfulness we learn to remain awake, alert and aware of this process and can undertake the appropriate action to mitigate these feelings.
A primary product of mindless living is attachment, a process that causes us to cling to objects or events that we take a fondness to, and therefore choose to place a grasping hold upon, often to our emotional detriment.
The understanding that we live a transitory existence points to the fact that it is of little use to try to hold onto anything that is in a constant state of change.
It is like pushing against the tide, and when we find we can’t adapt to the inevitable changes that occur in our lives, we suffer.
Through the practice of non attachment we free ourselves from the pain of loss. Our acceptance of “what is” assists us through this process.
It is never too late to “change your mind” and experience the true freedom you were born to enjoy.
