Whilst breathwork is currently undergoing a renaissance through the explosion of wellness awareness, it has been practiced throughout the world for centuries by indigenous cultures who were acutely connected through spiritual belief. And rightly so, as it is an incredibly powerful, inbuilt tool to both energize and calm the mind and body.

When you take the time to slow down your frantic daily patterns and allow space for calmness and silence, you create the opportunity to witness and experience the frenetic pattern of your breathing. When caught in the grind of today’s pace of life, we aren’t aware of the shallowness of our breathing and therefore the impact that can have on numerous areas of our health.

Peer reviewed studies show that our physiology is directly affected by our breathing patterns, which in turn creates either issues or benefits over time, dependent upon how we breath. Many are aware of using their breath as their gateway to meditation, but there are many other ways that our breath can improve our mental and physical health, and it is purely a matter of making yourself aware of them through research and practice. Our body has the ability to reduce or heal many of the ailments we suffer, and by simply taking time to educate ourselves through the copious quantities of resources available at our fingertips, we can set ourselves on a path that doesn’t always require ubiquitous medications and doctors’ fees.

Through awareness and understanding, we find growth, confidence and the ability to smile, regardless of what your day delivers.
